April Fools Is Over

I know April Fools is probably the most played out holiday on the entire interweb, but I just had to play a prank. It actually worked out perfectly because I had to do some real work on the site anyways.

Special thanks to Bhaldie. I stole his site code for the prank. I also stole his Recommended Level mod. But that's ok because Recommended Level is officially the most ripped off World of Warcraft mod.

Site Change

I'm hard at work moving the site to Blogger. Nothing much is going to change, except now I should have less spam and I'll never have to update the blog software.

I used to love Wordpress, but the many security and comment spam issues have taken it's toll.

Please be patient while I get everything back in order. The forums still work perfectly.

Update: I just realized that the RSS and Atom feeds have changed. Whoops...

Hooray for Spambots!

I don't have time to plug all the holes that are letting these Spambots get in, so I've simply disabled commenting here on the main blog page. I'll look into this issue after the dust settles on MonkeyMods v3. I'd much rather work on the mods than sort through more spam issues.

But of course the forums are still open and a great place for discussion. The login registration is quick and easy, no emails or even funky image quizzes.

MonkeyMods Updated For New WoW 2.0.3 Patch

I've updated all the mods to work with WoW 2.0.3 and they should also work with the Burning Crusade now. I just realized I didn't check the toc numbers for use with the Burning Crusade beta, I hope that doesn't bite me in the ass. I'm always forgetting those toc numbers. Oh well, BC is out in a week anyways!

Forums/Server Hacked

I can't confirm it, but it looks like the phpBB2 I used for the forums let some spammers into the server and they've been serving up spam the past few days. I'm trying my best to lock it down but I must admit that this is not my strong point. If I fail to lock it down I'll have to take the site offline for a day or two.

MonkeySpeed v3.0 Preview

A number of improvements are done for MonkeySpeed so far. You'll notice the MonkeyQuestLog resizer button is in. I plan to use that resizer in most of my main frames from now on. The resizer will disapear if you lock the frame.

The other major new interface item is the addition of the calibrate button. I want it to pop up if you enter a new zone without any data, or you can have it show as an option. As you may have already guessed, to calibrate a zone you'll just run at 100% and click the button.

Of course there are a lot of changes in the code itself that you'll never notice. The biggest change there is a greatly reduced code size making it easier to read and maintain.

It's not released yet, but only because the MonkeyMods 3.0 is not compatible with the old 2.x.

Hopefully this'll be the last update on the 2.x branch of MonkeyMods, I really need to focus more on the 3.0 branch. But don't worry, I'll fix bugs in 2.x if any more show up.

Quel Fixes MonkeySpeed (again)

I guess Quel must really love MonkeySpeed because he has fixed it again! The new version 2.4.4 in the download section should fix all the zone issues.

I must give props to Quel for fixing MonkeySpeed yet again. In fact, if it wasn't for Quel MonkeySpeed would have died long ago when Blizzard removed GetPlayerPosition().

Most of the zones will need to be recalibrated before MonkeySpeed displays the correct speed. While running at 100%, execute the slash command /mscalibrate. This will calibrate the current zone. Also, battlegrounds should work, but most instances will not.

WoW 2.0 and Burning Crusade

All MonkeyMods in the download page should work with the new WoW 2.0 and the Burning Crusade Beta. There should be no show stopper bugs, only minor issues. Here's a list of the top issues facing MonkeyMods on WoW 2.0:

MonkeySpeed reports bad speed. Almost all zones need to be recalibrated. Use /mscalibrate while running at 100% in each new zone.

MonkeyBuddy tabs are missing text. You'll have to play a guessing game and just click them till you find the one you want :)

And that's about it for issues. I won't be fixing minor issues any time soon, I'll be busy working on the new MonkeyMods 3.0 branch. I'm not ready to release details on any new features just yet, but I will say that the code is being almost completely re-written. Because of the massive code changes I'll have to wait until all the MonkeyMods 3.0 are finished before release.

Maybe just one detail... I'm getting rid of all slash commands.

MonkeyQuest Burning Crusade Quick Fix

The Burning AddOn Crusade!

So I've read the info on the interface changes for the upcoming World of Warcraft Burning Crusade expansion and I've coded what I think are the only changes needed. You can now try out the new Burning Crusade edition of MonkeyMods!

Please note that I have absolutely NO IDEA if this works at all. I just changed about 4-5 lines and the .toc numbers. I'm banking on the fact that the MonkeyMods hardly ever break because I stay as far away from the Blizzard stuff as I can.

If you're lucky enough to have a Burning Crusade account (I do not), please let me know if this works or not.

South Park Plays World of Warcraft

Complete MonkeyMods German Translations

Absolutely all the MonkeyMods are now completely translated to German. Many thanks to Jim Bim for his hard work. This brings the number of total complete localizations to 3.

The download page is now updated with the German translations joining the official download files. The version numbers have NOT changed.

Don't forget that MonkeyQuest also features Spanish and French translations, although these are a little out of date.

MonkeyMods Gets Taiwan Localization

Thanks to Jason, you can now find a Taiwan localization for all the MonkeyMods in the download section.

This localization is much different than the others, it includes changing the font to the default game font due to font size issues. Because of that I'll put it up as a separate download.
